Themed Walks – Trees
Summer is nearly upon us and we would like to provide everyone with a little extra motivation to enjoy your local green spaces and reap the benefits. To get involved, we would like you to send us your favourite photos of the ‘monthly theme’ with the added incentive of winning a prize.
The theme for June will be Trees. Did you know some Oak trees in England are 800 – 1200 years old!
How to participate: Please add your photos to the word document which you can find in ACL Essex General channel.
It is always good to have a company for your walks, why not arrange with a colleague to explore local natural scenery together?!
Benefits:
Trees have been found to enhance mood, improve self-esteem, and lower blood pressure. Research in the Netherlands and Japan indicated that people were more likely to walk or cycle to work if the streets were lined with trees and live longer and feel better as a result.
Walking among trees reduces levels of cortisol, a hormone associated with stress, and can boost the immune system through breathing in phytoncides, which trees emit to protect themselves from germs and insects.
If you have any questions, please feel free to message Klaudia Ratajczak or Su Codling.
