Who are digital champions?
Digital champions are volunteer super-heroes, determined to share their knowledge of digital technology with people in their local community, improving the confidence, security and abilities of those who require it.
What do digital champions do?
Digital Champions improve lives across the county through empowering people to learn basic digital skills and access the online world, benefiting from digital technology. Through patience, time and expertise, they will utilise basic digital skills to promote independent living, reduce social isolation, increase vital skills and improve access to education and employment. They provide either one-to-one support to local residents who have been referred to the service or volunteer with other Champions mentoring small groups of residents in a local centre.
How do I become a digital champion?
Once you apply, you will be sent a link to complete an initial digital skills assessment. One of our tutors will then contact you to arrange an independent learning plan suited to your current level and prior experience. Depending on prior experience, this will consist of between 4-12 modules that can be completed in your free time over a number of weeks. Once training has been completed, you will be ready to support people in your community.
