Essex libraries and Adult Community Learning are committed to supporting people embrace these steps by providing new opportunities to embed them within their everyday lives.
Connect
Adult Community Learning provides courses where you can safely make new friendships and connections with other likeminded people to increase your social network.
Libraries provide Signposting – to ways to support yourself and your community
Be Active
Adult Community Learning courses will keep your mind and body active. You won’t have to run a marathon (unless you want to), a gentle stroll such as one of our Photography Walks is just as effective.
Libraries provide Clubs and Activities – regular social events and groups for all ages including book groups, knit and natter, rhymetimes, and community teatimes
Take Notice
Adult Community Learning will encourage you to be more observant of all that surrounds you, the people, the places and your emotions.
Libraries provide Space – We have space to connect, space to relax and spend time
Learn
Adult Community Learning is a great place to learn, whether it’s for a new interest or hobby or to gain work skills
Libraries provide Reading for pleasure – regularly updated reading suggestions for all ages on our library catalogue
Give
Adult Community Learning is dedicated to people learning together so that everyone gives as much as they receive.
Libraries provide Volunteering opportunities – a variety of roles to support you and your community
