We recently caught up with Tarnya, who completed an early years skills bootcamp, to find out more about how the bootcamp supported her to develop her skills, knowledge and confidence. Find out what she has to say below:
Why did you undertake the Early Years Skills Bootcamp?
It was the fastest route to go through to start working with children in an Early Years setting, propel me into a career in Early Years and build up to working in a SENCO role. It worked well around my children and it felt like a lot less pressure compared to other training options.
As a result of finishing the Early Years Skills Bootcamp, what did you achieve?
I secured two interviews, both went really well and they really liked what the Skill Bootcamps offers learners. They were really impressed with how well prepared I was and how much I learnt on the course. They really liked my Early Years Foundation Stage and Special Educational Needs knowledge. I felt I had enough knowledge to be able to answer all their questions well.
What was your overall experience of the Early Years Skills Bootcamp?
It was very good, I really liked it – I really enjoyed it! The tutor was fantastic and she connected the learning on a personal level with her own experiences, which made it easy to understand. Things were explained in clear way, I learnt so much. Everyone in the class was really lovely.
What would you say to other people who are considering a Skills Bootcamp?
100% do it! If Early Years is where you want to be, pursue it!
If I had applied for jobs without the course, I feel my application would have been overlooked. This course has helped me secure interviews and I am looking forward to finding out if they offer me a job.
Any additional comments?
All I can I say what is what I said before, the tutor made it so much easier and really wanted the learners to succeed. The course really has been a success.
