GCSE Results Day

GCSE Results Day!

There were great results in both GCSE’s and A Levels across the county last month.

Results were particularly positive for our Providers in Essex, with ACL achieving excellent results, 83% of GCSE results at grade Level 4 and above and 74% in Maths.  This is particularly positive for Adults returning to re-take their GCSE’s to progress in work, change or kickstart their career.

Many ACL learners can now apply for new employment opportunities or pursue further education and university. For instance, Charlotte, who studied GCSE Science, didn’t achieve a passing grade in school, which she felt was the only barrier preventing her from attending university,  her dream was to become a dental nurse. Now, she is set to enrol in a hygienist course and plans to apply to university next year. Similarly, Coral passed her GCSE English, motivated by a desire to boost her confidence. She has been able to utilise her improved writing skills to advance in her job and feel more self-assured.

Courses have also been tailored to meet individual needs. Take, for example, a learner in the military who was retaking Functional Skills but was deployed during his course. Transitioning his learning to an online format was seamless, and he excelled in his assessments.

Achieving a GCSE can open doors for learners to pursue additional courses, and there are many opportunities for providers to collaborate throughout the County. This collaboration helps ensure that learners receive the guidance and in turn access they need to navigate the right paths toward their chosen careers.
