We recently caught up with Jack Parsons, ACL AAT Award winner 2021 to find out what he’s doing now and how his accounting course at ACL has supported him. What are you currently doing?

I’m both employed and studying. I work as a client accounts analyst for a property management company called Red Rock Estate and Property Management Ltd. I have worked here for almost 3 years now and my role includes reconciling ground rent accounts and assisting in preparing year end accounts for the sites we manage. I am currently studying my AAT level 4 qualification and hope to complete towards the latter end of 2024 or early 2025.

How are the skills/qualifications you gained whilst studying at ACL supported?

My success in my role is a direct result of my AAT level 2 and 3 qualifications which I attained through ACL. Not only did I receive the fundamental skills and theoretical knowledge required to be competent in the role, having AAT qualifications on my CV was a useful advantage during the interview process.

Have the skills gained at ACL supported you in other aspects of your life?

Oh 100%. I am more focussed and self-driven, I’m happy and excited about what the future has for me, I go to the gym 4 days a week now, I’m dieting, I have made friends from my AAT level 2 and 3 course. We go for a curry every few months and catch up. It is a remarkable thing really, you only need a little bit of support and direction and it’s truly amazing how far that can carry you. I am indebted to the ACL for helping me gain self-confidence, social skills and get into a career that I absolutely love.

What do you hope to achieve in the future?

On completion of my level 4 I am looking to study for a chartered management accountancy qualification through the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). I may also venture into a chartered financial accountancy qualification through the ACCA.

Would you recommend an accounting courses to others?

100%. Enrolling on my AAT level 2 was the best decision I have ever made and I have never looked back. The possibilities that are available to me now are endless.

Any other feedback or comments?

Yes. If you’re scared or nervous about taking the step and enrolling, that’s okay. I was super nervous when I first walked through the doors of ACL Clacton. But the staff were so warm and welcoming, they immediately made me feel at ease.

We are so pleased to hear Jack is doing so well and wish him all the best for the future! If Jack’s story has inspired you, why not take a look at our AAT qualifications, offered in level 2 to level 4.
