A New Curriculum for 2024/25 Academic Year

Summary

We are pleased to introduce our new curriculum, which offers a wide range of learning opportunities. This year, the curriculum has undergone several changes.

We are pleased to introduce our new curriculum, which offers a wide range of learning opportunities. This year, the curriculum has undergone several changes.

These changes are in response to new funding rules set by the Department for Education (DfE), which means we can no longer use money from the Adult Skills Fund to support leisure-focused courses.

Although some of our previous courses will no longer be available, we are confident that our new offer provides opportunities that cater to a wide variety of interests and learning objectives.

We will have an increased focus on core subjects, helping Essex residents to grow important skills, enter employment and progress at work, equip parents and carers to support children and young people in their own learning and improve physical and mental wellbeing and confidence.

By adapting our delivery model, ACL Essex will have an even greater focus on the priorities set out in the Local Skills Improvement Plan. The plan aims to narrow skills gaps and mould courses to meet the specific needs of individuals and groups across Essex.

The funding changes will come into effect from Thursday, 1 August 2024, and staff will continue to support learners whose courses will no longer be subsidised as we prepare for the switch-over.

Enrolments for courses starting in September 2024 are available on our website, over the phone 0345 603 7635, or by visiting one of our eight centres. Printed brochures and course details will also be accessible at our centres and local community spaces from late June.
