Adult education provider, ACL Essex, is helping parents prepare their children for primary school.
ACL Essex is launching a series of free online courses designed to get youngsters ‘reception ready’. The new ‘Getting Ready for Reception’ sessions are aimed at parents and carers whose children will be starting school. The friendly online workshops offer practical tips and ideas. Parents learn key skills to help children move from pre-school to a classroom setting while building their confidence.
The courses cover a range of topics, such as bedtime routines, play and language and social skills. Parents will also learn fun activities they can try at home to support their child’s learning and development.
Councillor Tony Ball, Cabinet Member for Education, Lifelong Learning and Employability, Essex County Council, said: “Our ‘Getting Ready for Reception’ courses help parents feel confident about supporting their child as they take this exciting step into school life. Starting reception is a big milestone for children and parents, and a little preparation can make a huge difference.”
He continued: “These free online sessions are relaxed, supportive and full of practical ideas. They’re a great way to help children feel ready, confident and excited about starting school.”
The series of six online courses are delivered by ACL Essex’s experienced family learning tutors. The sessions allow parents to join from home while gaining valuable guidance. Online learners will also get the chance to connect with other families across Essex.
