We recently caught up with Business Administration Apprentice, Maddi, to hear more about her journey so far with Impamark. With National Apprenticeship Week shining a spotlight on the incredible impact apprentices make across organisations, this felt like the perfect opportunity to celebrate Maddi’s achievements, her growing confidence, and the skills she’s developing as she works towards her qualification.
Please tell us a little bit about your current role:
I am a junior office assistant, and this consists of helping my colleagues with quotes, visuals, order processing, social media and much more. A specific topic I like doing is order processing, because I like how it gets your brain thinking, and as I can be a very organised person, I can apply this skill to when I process orders because the information has to be correct and tidy so our CRM system stays clean and easy to navigate around.
Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?
Before I chose to go into an apprenticeship, I worked part time in a beauty and health shop during the weekend, and on the occasional weekday. During working at Savers I grew my confidence and customer service however, I really wanted to build on this more because I felt like my skills has so much more potential. The reason I chose to do an apprenticeship is because from working part time for over a year and half, I didn’t feel comfortable to jump straight into full time employment, especially in such a knowledgeable company, so I chose an apprenticeship so I can have my learning on the side and gain a qualification.
What are your career goals?
My career goals are a mixture such as I would really like to grow on my sales support admin, media and marketing skills, and possibly I would like to go into sales in the future.
Would you recommend an apprenticeship?
Yes, I would recommend an apprenticeship because it allows me to learn while not feeling rushed to get something correct the first time, I have really enjoyed navigating myself around our CRM system. My apprenticeship has benefitted my confidence massively compared to when I first started, I can now answer the phone to the public and call up our suppliers, and cold leads. When I was looking for a job, this opportunity really caught my eye because I’ve always liked to be creative, so I took the jump and applied, and it was such a smooth process from the start to finish.
What is one thing you are proud of?
Before working at Impamark, I was also doing my Maths and English at home because I struggled during school and college, I was starting to slowly give up however when this job opportunity came up, I was so dedicated to get my Maths and English, and pushed through. Since working at Impamark, I have surprised myself from how far I’ve come already and although I’ve learned a handful of things I’m overly proud of, just how much my skills and confidence have grown because that’s something I’ve struggled with for a long time.
What do you like doing outside of work?
Outside of work I usually spend most of my time with my partner, going on drives, eating, baking and cooking together. I also like my own time where I become a clean freak in my room and I spray antibacterial on my side twice a day, it brings peace to me when I’m cleaning.
Maddi’s journey is an inspiring example of how apprenticeships help people grow in confidence, develop valuable skills, and discover new career pathways.
