ACL Essex is helping people to get their life on track with free wellbeing and employability courses.

ACL Essex is encouraging residents to start 2025 with a fresh approach to their wellbeing and career prospects. The adult learning provider offers a range of free wellbeing, counselling and mental health recovery courses. They also offer employability courses, which are ideal for anyone who has struggled with their confidence and needs help to land a new job.

Christian Norman, Vice Principal Curriculum & Learning, ACL Essex, knows these courses can transform lives. He said: “Every year one in four people in the UK will suffer from a mental health issue¹. It is vital we offer free wellbeing courses to help residents when they need it.”

He continued: “We’re here to support everyone from all walks of life to take the first step towards a brighter, healthier and more fulfilling future. By taking part in these courses, people will gain valuable skills, build resilience and be supported by our caring community. ACL Essex aims to empower each participant to achieve their fullest potential.”

The courses:

General Wellbeing – promoting holistic health

ACL Essex’s general wellbeing courses focus on promoting holistic health and life satisfaction. The courses cover a wide range of topics, from journaling for wellbeing to nutrition and digital wellbeing.

Mental Health Recovery

Mental health recovery courses are designed to support people on their journey to emotional wellbeing and resilience. These courses offer a safe and supportive environment. Participants will learn how to reduce anxiety, develop coping strategies and create positive habits. The courses also offer mindfulness activity, managing sleep and self-care. The course will help participants to navigate life’s challenges and build a strong foundation for mental health recovery.

Employability

To enhance job opportunities, ACL Essex’s employability courses provide residents with the skills and confidence to thrive. Highlights of the course include boosting self-esteem, overcoming nerves, plus improving public speaking. There’s also CV writing workshops, interview skills sessions, and handy hints in job searching.

The courses last from one to five weeks. To be eligible for the course, participants must be 19 or over.
