Your Commitment

Employers need to allocate 6 hours a week (based on a 30-hour week) of the apprentice’s contracted hours to support the completion of the programme. This is known as “off-the-job training”.

The term “off-the-job training” might sound like your apprentice is taking a break from work, but that’s far from the truth. This training is designed to enhance their skills and knowledge, benefiting your business in the long run. Here’s how it works:

Flexible Learning Methods

  • Online courses: Your apprentice can learn new skills from anywhere, even during quieter moments at work.
  • Simulation exercises: They can practice real-world scenarios in a fun, controlled environment, ready to apply these skills on the job.
  • Third-party training: External experts provide valuable insights that your apprentice can bring back to your business.

Practical Training Opportunities

  • Shadowing colleagues: Apprentices learn by observing experienced team members, gaining practical knowledge that boosts their productivity.
  • Being mentored: One-on-one guidance helps apprentices grow and become more effective in their roles.
  • Industry visits: Exploring different workplaces broadens their understanding and brings fresh ideas to your business.
  • Attending competitions: Apprentices test their skills and gain confidence, which translates into better performance at work.

Additional Learning Activities

  • Learning support: Apprentices receive the help they need to succeed, ensuring they’re always improving.
  • Time spent writing assessments/assignments: Reflecting on their learning helps apprentices consolidate their knowledge and apply it effectively.

This flexible approach ensures that apprentices are continuously developing their skills and knowledge, making them more valuable to your business. Off-the-job training is all about enhancing their capabilities, not taking them away from their work!

Our Commitment

Our blended approach means that our programmes are flexible and enable apprentices to experience a range of learning and support opportunities in various formats, such as online or at a local ACL centre.

Apprentices will have a dedicated tutor who they will meet (online or face-to-face) once a month to guide them through their apprenticeship and prepare them for their End Point Assessment.

Reviews of progress are carried out every 12 weeks with the learner, their line manager, and the tutor.

Additional workshops and seminars will be available to all learners to support additional learning and the off-job learning requirement.

As proven by our OFSTED “good rating” The inspectors noted “apprentices can complete their work quickly and to a professional standard”.
