In October, we launched our Creative Climate Change Challenge. We asked you to produce either a piece that highlights the theme of climate change, or something made entirely from recycled/repurposed material. We pleased to announce the chosen winner, and runner-up.
Winner: Barbara
Here are just a few of the nomination comments:
- “The artist has really captured the responsibility we have to work hard at delaying/reducing global warming. We are not responsible to just ourselves but to all the creatures we share the world with.”
- “Poignant and beautiful. I love the way the artwork depicts the beauty of the polar bear and the environment- with vivid blues for the sky and sea – and yet captures the fragility of the earth and the damage of climate change with the single bear perched on an isolated piece of ice and the stark brown of the mountains behind. This is a very subtle, clever piece of artwork which has greater depth and meaning the more you study it.”
- “A polar bear with nowhere to go. A sure sign of climate change.”
Runner-up: Bradley
Here are just a few of the nomination comments:
- “I think this image captures multiple areas of climate change, it is both shocking but also shows familiar images that ground the issue in daily life.”
- “The savage side of humanity is perfectly described.”
- “This has a powerful message and skilfully created using multiple layers, each time you look you see more.”
Congratulations both and thank you to everyone who submitted artwork. They can still all be viewed here.
