Meet Michelle – Apprenticeship Success Stories
Michelle is the Director of Ellacott Morris Ltd, an Accountancy firm who have used ACL Apprenticeships to upskill four of their staff. We asked Michelle some questions about why she would recommend ACL Apprenticeships and how it has impacted her business.
Why did you choose an apprenticeship for your business?
Our team have been trained in house for a lot of years, but the apprenticeship programme allowed us to outsource the training so that we can focus on the clients more. It means that they gain the knowledge that they need to progress, whilst getting the relevant work experience on the job. There is a huge benefit for both us and for our team members.
What impact has the apprenticeship programme had on your business?
It has enabled us to turn our admin team into experienced bookkeepers. It also shows them that you care in their learning and development. We are confident that some of them will now progress to become accountants, which would not have been possible without the apprenticeships in place.
Why would you recommend apprenticeships to other organisations?
Apprenticeships enable you to mould a team from scratch to your own way of doing things. They gain the knowledge that they need to apply on the job, whilst learning your way of applying it to your own customers or clients.
Would you recommend ACL as an apprenticeship provider to other employers?
Yes, the team at ACL have been incredibly helpful at co-ordinating apprenticeships for 4 members of our team, all at differing levels. They quickly identified a member of our team who could progress to the next level because of his ability, so as not to waste a year of our time and resources!
We are continuing to deliver our high-quality apprenticeship programme throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and can help you consider different options for your business and the specific circumstances you are currently working within. Businesses could receive funding of up to £3,000 to support them to take on a new apprentice and we offer apprenticeships at intermediate, advanced and higher levels. We are running free online information sessions for both those interested in an apprenticeship and employers looking to recruit or upskill their staff. These will be running during National Apprenticeship Week on Thursday 11th February. If you are interested in signing up to one of these sessions, please click here.
