Keeping Safe while using Social Media
- Be careful about entering any personal, identifying information about yourself – for example, your phone number or pictures identifying your address or birthday.
- Use strong passwords which do not include personal information such as date of birth.
- Learn how to use the site’s privacy settings properly. You can amend your profile to keep it closed and allow only your friends to view it; this restricts strangers’ access to your profile.
- Don’t accept friend requests from people you do not know.
- When promoting ACL please attach links to the website/ service phone number instead of having private conversations with strangers.
- Report any signs of cyber-bullying and harassment to the Safeguarding team.
- Never provide your private and work phone number and email address on Social Media.
- Report any inappropriate or offensive content via Social Media reporting system.
- Refer to ‘Online Safety’ area on VLE for more information.
