Business Times – Sustainability: Expand your knowledge of sustainable development, climate change and global warming
Sustainable development, climate change and global warming are common features of news reports with leaders from across the world finding ways to tackle these big problems for humanity with ever increasing levels of urgency.
Here at ACL Essex, we’ve been exploring new ways to be environmentally friendly, and have an ongoing commitment to sustainability. We offer a wide range of creative and thrift craft courses, which explore the use of raw and recycled materials, with a focus on recycling, re-purposing and repairing. Sustainability is also a key element of all our education, wherever possible environmental issues are discussed or used as a reference point, such as calculating percentages of climate change in maths.
We’ve also signed up to UNFCCC Race to Zero Campaign. This global campaign will rally leadership and support from businesses, cities, regions, investors for a healthy, resilient, zero carbon recovery that prevents future threats, creates decent jobs, and unlocks inclusive, sustainable growth.
Pioneering green futures here at ACL Essex is Christian Norman our Vice Principal Curriculum & Learning. He says: “We all hear so much about the need to tackle global warming and climate change, and for many people the TV reports can be overwhelming. We know that we need to be more sustainable to make a difference but many of us are unsure how our actions can affect the big picture.”
BLUEPRINT to a Circular Economy

It will investigate sustainable development goals, how to be part of the circular economy and how businesses can contribute to sustainable development.
There are 200 free places available on this course which is suitable for employees and business owners alike. It will provide a fantastic foundation on which to build your knowledge of sustainability and integrate changes within both your work and personal life.
The course is delivered online on the ACL Virtual Learning Environment and lasts for 2-4 hours.
Those who complete the course will be able to progress onto a Level 2 accredited qualification, Climate Change and Environmental Awareness, which could be fully funded.
