Local Volunteering
Essex Coronavirus Action: This group is an initiative set up by Essex County Council, Public Health England, local Community Leaders and is supported by Facebook.
The success of this group and its ability to help our community will rely on the members helping each other and us to keep it a useful place of trusted information and support.
Please fill out the form here if you would like to help: http://bit.ly/ecaformvolunteers (business can fill out a form here: http://bit.ly/ecaformbusinesses )
The group has three goals:
PREVENT
We will do this by providing the latest NHS-approved advice about how to avoid exposing yourself to Covid-19 and passing it on to other more vulnerable people. We ask you NOT to share medical advice or give medical opinions in this group. We will not be approving posts that ask for medical advice and we ask that you do not give medical advice in the comments of posts.
INFORM
We will provide the latest information to debunk the many viral myths on social media about Covid-19. To help us we ask you not to share information to this group unless you have included an official source for it. We will not be approving videos, posts which have been made by unconfirmed members of the public (eg. a “nurse on Facebook”) or other unsourced information.
ASSIST
We want to make sure that our residents, especially our most vulnerable members of Essex and their carers get the urgent help that they need, both practically and emotionally.
To do this we need to share accurate information and advice. We are asking those of you who can, to sign up as a volunteer to help people in your community with daily tasks such as: Shopping, Transport, Being a phone buddy, Being a Facebook buddy, Posting mail, Urgent supplies, Feeding, Hydration, Carer support
