What is the role about?

Digital Champions improve lives across the county through empowering people to learn basic digital skills and access the online world, benefiting from digital technology.

What will it involve?

Through patience, time and expertise, Digital Champions will utilise basic digital skills to promote independent living, reduce social isolation, increase vital skills and improve access to education and employment.

As a Digital Champion, you will provide either one-to-one support to local residents who have been referred to the service or volunteer with other Champions mentoring small groups of residents in a local library.

What skills and experience do you need?

It is not necessary to have any qualifications for this role, however a good level of technology knowledge and English is necessary.

Once registered, you will be sent an initial digital skills assessment to complete, and a Digital Tutor from ACL will contact you to arrange an independent learning plan suited to your current skills level. You will become a tech wiz in no time!

You need to have the interest and skillset to support individuals with their digital skills needs.

Patience and understanding will be required to continue to support an individual through their journey.

Safeguarding and best practice guidance training will be provided.

How much time would you be asked to contribute?

We welcome as much time as you can contribute!

Who will I be supporting?

Lots of people in your community! You could be supporting someone who has a learning disability, someone who is not confident shopping or banking online, or someone who wants to know how they can stay in contact with their friends and family online.

Do I need to be a tech wiz?

No, anyone can apply. After your initial digital skills assessment a Digital Tutor from ACL will contact you to arrange an independent learning plan suited to your current skills level. You will become a tech wiz in no time!
