Today we are celebrating GCSE results day (Thursday 25 August).
ACL learners from across the county were delighted with their GCSE results, which will help many continue onto further courses and step into new career pathways.

She continued: “While studying for my English GCSE, I realised I loved creative writing. My tutor said I was a natural at writing and now I’m writing books in the hope of getting them published. My teachers were amazing and understanding as I was heavily pregnant with a surrogate baby during my course, and my classmates were wonderful and supportive; we all got on so well.”
We offers GCSE courses in a wide range of subjects, with English, maths and science. The courses are on offer to residents of Essex, core subjects are offered to eligible learners free-of-charge or with financial support to help with laptops, books, Wi-Fi and course fees.
Lisa Jarentowski, ACL Principal, was impressed with this year’s results. She said: “Once again the team at ACL Essex has supported many students through their GCSEs. Many learners are often surprised at what they can achieve, thanks to the supportive environment created by ACL tutors; adult learners feel comfortable, excited to learn and want to achieve their potential.”
She continued: “With the help of dedicated tutors and staff, learners can thrive and take that first step on the career pathway of their dreams.”
From September 2022, year-long GCSE courses will restart. Learners can choose from core subjects, such as GCSEs in English, maths, biology, chemistry and computer science, or learn a new language etc. Courses are flexible, with online learning, fast track and intensive courses available for GCSE English and math. Childcare facilities are also on offer at ACL Colchester and Maldon.
