Before joining ACL, Henry completed two apprenticeships and a range of CPD qualifications. Henry has now secured a full-time position as a Data Officer in ACL’s Commercial team.
Why did you decide to undertake an apprenticeship?
I decided to take an apprenticeship when I left school because the college environment isn’t really for me but I still wanted to get qualifications as well. For me, an apprenticeship was a great way to earn money, get invaluable work experience, meet new people and be able to do that at the same time.
What impact has your apprenticeship on your career development?
My apprenticeship has been brilliant, I have technically done 2. I did a level 2 that rolled onto a Level 3 that I completed last week. Because of the nationally recognised qualification I’ve got, including my level 2 and 3 diplomas, ECDL, functional skills and all of my CPD qualifications such as health & safety and first aid trained. I am now a Data Officer, so I have secured a full-time position here and I wouldn’t have done that without my apprenticeship.
Why would you recommend apprenticeships to others?
On an apprenticeship, you’re looking at normal working hours and you’re also getting that time from your employer to learn. They pay you to do your job, they allow you to do your qualification and it’s merging all the things you want to do into one.
ACL offers many different apprenticeships available across a wide range of industries, and for a wide variety of job roles. For more information and list of apprenticeships, please click here.
